Clyde Hardy was the oldest of seven sons. Born to Clemme Payne on September 19th, 1938 in Daleville, Mississippi. He was raised by grandparents Clyde and Ida Hardy. He attended Daleville School in Mississippi. He married Minnie Clinton in 1956. During their wonderful marriage they were blessed with 5 beautiful children. Clyde Jr., Diane, Viola, Flint, and Vivian. Clyde and Minnie relocated to Davenport, Ia in 1961.
He married Jean Lathan on September 18th, 1993. He inherited 6 stepchildren by marrying her. 4 biological Alfreda Johnson, Melvin Roark, Carolyn Roark, and Johnnie Lathan III, and 2 that they adopted together, Darius Lathan and Linda Lathan (Marie). They were happily married until her passing in 2004.
He later married Theresa Adams in 2005. After their separation and some time, he met Wendy Kozlowski in 2006. They were together happily til his passing in 2024.
He was employed and retired from Continental Cement Plant in Buffalo, Ia after 10 years and continued to work at Midwest for many years until he finally decided to hang it up 15 years later.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Lathan Hardy, ex wife, Minnie Clinton, mother, Clemmie Payne, grandparents, Clyde and Ida Hardy, sons, Clyde Jr. Hardy, and Flint Hardy, brothers, Charles Hardy, Richard Payne, Oliver Payne, LaVerne Payne and William Payne.
Clyde Hardy Sr. departed this life on February 12th, 2024, at the age of 85 years old. He helped many and was loved by all that knew him. He was more than a father, grandfather, uncle, son, brother, and friend; he was a listening ear, a powerful voice of reason, and a strong tower. He blessed many lives and hearts with his infectious smile, enormous heart, and no-nonsense attitude.
He leaves to cherish his memory a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
